Hello!
My name is Fan Fan and I am a Video Editor. I make sense of this world with stories, and I like doing stuff that engages my imagination.
After graduation from film school in Singapore, I got a job editing in the news room at Channel News Asia. I will never forget that evening of September 11, 2001, the whole station came to a standstill as we watched the dreadful events feeding from New York.
2002, I worked on my first program for Nickelodeon, a stop-motion kid’s series that ran for 5 seasons using the same 12 minutes footage! Perhaps it’s the simplicity of a kids’ program (kids CAN watch something over and over) or perhaps that’s just how TV was back then, but I like to think that my ability to re-invent the footage helped a bit in making it possible to run that many seasons. Since then, programs that I’ve edit and went on worldwide broadcast includes 5 series on Discovery and 2 feature-length for the National Geographic.
2009, I moved to Glasgow to work in a start-up that adapts school books into mini documentaries. I made 29 short films here, covering topics such as evolution, plants, the human senses, the digestive track, and quite a few about animals. It felt like going back to school again.
In 2011, I relocated to Shanghai, the advertising hub of Asia. I helped make commercials with Olympians selling sodas and figure-skaters spinning on cars … it is crazy out here; the pace, the scale and intensity… but I get to meet fantastic people in this industry as China employs the best from all over the world.
2021, I start a new journey in California, US. I think this going to be my greatest adventure.
